Student designs exterior lighting scheme for Wilton's Music Hall

Jon Martin (Lighting Design level 6) has just completed an exterior lighting design project for Wilton’s Music Hall in London. Wilton’s is the world’s oldest surviving music hall, and Jon’s brief was to design and install a lighting design in response to Wilton’s unique identity as “the city’s hidden stage”. Jon developed and pitched his design to Frances Mayhew, Wilton’s Artistic Director, and installed the design for one week-end to support Wilton’s ongoing fundraising scheme for a permanent lighting system. Jon used a combination of festoon cable, coloured gels for the existing street lighting, and Philips washlights to bring live and character to the dark exterior of the music hall and Grace’s Alley.

"Jonathan produced a fantastic outdoor installation in a very tricky alleyway. We were delighted with the result, as were our customers. He was easy to work with, mindful of our listed building and working in a public building that was full of people at the time. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or work with him in the future."
